MAGIC FOR ALL

The rural outreach ‘Everybody’s Magic’ Card Skills, Life-skills and Juggling course is an innovative, high-impact intervention programme which targets low-income areas with a high population of at- risk youth. We seek to enrich the education experience and provide opportunities for creative expression to young people who would not otherwise have access to these resources. At the heart of the programme are six sequential 2-hour training sessions over 6 weeks, teaching juggling, card skills and life-skills. These arts motivate and excite young people. A qualified team of College of Magic magicians runs the training sessions. Each programme trains 40 young people, ages 10 to 13 years (20 boys and 20 girls) and 2 educators/youth leaders from these disadvantaged communities.

640 children will benefit from the course this year.

Programme Highlights

  • Hands-on Learning: Each session introduces students to the basics of magic with easy-to-learn tricks and techniques, allowing them to develop skills in sleight of hand, illusion, and performance.
  • Hand-eye Co-ordination: Juggling and card skills are wonderful vehicles for improving dexterity and co-ordination.
  • Community & Connection: Students are encouraged to share their magic skills with friends and family, building confidence and creating a ripple effect of wonder within their communities.
  • Creative Expression: Magic is an art form that celebrates creativity. Students can express themselves in new ways and discover unique talents through each class.
  • Nurtures Self-esteem: Empowering young people to believe in their abilities as they master new skills and share the joy of magic with their communities.

Meet Our Instructors

Our instructors are graduates of the College of Magic, some of whom are professional magicians, but all experienced magic educators. They bring a wealth of knowledge, skill, and enthusiasm, ensuring each student gets a memorable learning experience.

Graduation

Each programme culminates in a graduation ceremony and show for school, family and community. The performance and juggling skills of each student are evaluated and awards and prizes are presented. Guest artists are included in the show to entertain the audience and inspire the students as to what is possible if they continue working on their newly acquired art.

I was a little bit concerned when you brought cards into our space. I don’t know much about magic. But I can tell you that from the time you’ve spent with us, the wool has been lifted from my eyes and now we have an interest in magic. You put children at the centre of everything that you do. You’re bringing development from the bottom up, and our country needs men and women of your calibre. You make it possible for them to access skills. home, it makes you feel like you can change the world.

These kids stay here; these are shacks that you see. But the shack does not define your destiny. And they live under very harsh conditions. But what you have done, you have made them feel important.
