The College gave me tools to escape the township life and be different but most importantly be the positive change in the township. The College has always taught me through magic that in life it’s always best to treat others with respect and humility in that way we become better people and be the change the world needs.

2015 – Jamian Fortune

2014 – Santika Naidoo
Having lived behind the College of Magic for the first thirteen years of my life, it only made sense that I would enrol at the age of ten. If not necessarily for my own creative interests – then at the very least to find out what these noisy neighbours were getting up...

2008 – Michael Saharin
What does the College of Magic mean to me? It’s 17 years of my 28 years of life. It’s the only organisation that I’ve been committed to and regularly involved with, for that long. It’s a family away from home. It’s the place that taught me many of the important things...
2006 – Nicholas Rix
It was during a visit to the ‘Magic Shop’ 2002 that I stumbled across an organisation that would change the trajectory of my life forever. With a keen interest in juggling initially, I had never considered the hidden wonders of the art of magic and the life skills it...
2005 – Wade Petersen
Unbeknown to me, I had just cast my first magical spell… one that would forever define the course of my life. My parents may not have heard the walls resound, the wind change direction, nor witnessed the glowing lights abound as I did, but with their smiles they...
2004 – Carlo Penso

2003 – Matthew Gore
As a youngster, who isn’t fascinated by the art of magic? A world where anything is possible. A wave of a wand makes rabbits appear, snapping your fingers and a coin appears. Growing up having David Gore, an amazing Magician as your uncle is unreal. As a young boy, I...
2003 – Tara Weinberg
I began my College of Magic journey with my cousin Batandwa in 1998. The two of us had always loved seeing College magicians at friends’ birthday parties. We had started inventing shows for my younger brother’s parties, wearing black paper top hats and using an old...
2000 – Jean-Pierre Murray-Kline
As I moved from the rear seat of the taxi I could feel eyes on the back of my neck. I must have looked out of place. Bowtie, waistcoat and very shiny shoes. My brief case, the traditional sidekick of a magician, was knocking the door as I squeezed out of the...
Joy Millar – 1999
I first came across the College of Magic in 1995, when my mom took us to the College's school holiday show at the Claremont Civic Centre. My mom’s friend Diane, who worked as a receptionist at the college, had told her about it. In we walked, and there was Grant...

1992 – Jacques le Sueur
I arrived on the doorstep of the College of Magic as a dorky kid with very big glasses and a bush of hair... I'd seen the College's display stand at the Design For Living Expo, and I clearly remember seeing a miniature lady in a fishbowl, and watching with wide eyes...
1992 – Diane May
I joined the College of Magic 32 years ago; and never realised how this was going to mould my life ahead. We were still based in the Plumstead premises in those days, and the walls of the College became my second home. I loved being a part of this institution, and...
